Todd K. Childers was born in Corbin, Kentucky on July 10, 1968. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with distinction and honors, and with membership in Phi Alpha Theta history Honor Society, Kappa Alpha Order, and Wildcat Lodge Club (past president 1988-1990). He was a recipient of the Holman-Hamilton Honor Scholarship in History.
He graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1993 with a Juris Doctorate degree, and was admitted to the Kentucky Bar on October 22, 1993. He was an associate editor of the Kentucky Law Journal and a member of the Moot Court Board as well as listed in the Who's Who Among American Law Students. He was a recipient of several awards in Moot Court competition, including Best Oral Argument Award and Best Appellant Brief.
After law school, Mr. Childers clerked for Hon. Eugene E. Siler, Jr., U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit (1993-1994), and then practiced commercial and general litigation in Lexington at the law firms of Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs and Dinsmore & Shohl LLP. He is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky as well as all Kentucky courts. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Mr. Childers is past Board Member of the Kentucky Bench and Bar journal.
Mr. Childers returned to Corbin, Kentucky in 1998 and began practicing law with Brien and Brad Freeman with a focus on injury cases and insurance litigation. He is active in the community, coaching youth sports and serving as a board member and past president of Faith Christian Camp, an area church-sponsored youth camp. Mr. Childers is an elder of Steele's Chapel Christian Church, Corbin, Kentucky.
